My 3 year old pitta mix is a rescue and has been through 2 rounds of heart worm treatment since I rescued her in January, 2022. This spring I noticed a lesion on her belly that resembled a blood blister. I tried to drain it but it would fill back up, so I took her to the vet. They told me them didn't know what is was and recommended that it be surgically removed. The surgery was done and the growth was sent for pathology. It came back as malignant - dermal hemangiosarcoma. Two weeks after her incision was healed, the tumor was back. More surgery was done to get wider margins.
Her prognosis is guarded. The type of cancer she has is very aggressive if it is found in any internal organs - lungs, spleen, liver or heart. So I had x-rays and ultrasound scans of her abdominal area and her lungs done, which thankfully were clear. At that point I started to looking for anything I could do to help her fight spread of the disease. I talked to my vet about Critical Immune Defense and he was familiar with the product and said that it certainly could not hurt her and very possible will be beneficial. I started giving CDI to her, with both meals, about a month ago. I just sprinkle it over her kibble and she eats it right up. There are no signs of new tumors on her skin. We will be getting another set of x-rays and scans in 2-3 months. Please say a prayer for my girl. I am hopeful the new scans will also be clear!
